Men's Shelter Ministry

Volunteer with sandwiches

The Christ the Redeemer Men's Shelter ministry is a group that provides a monthly meal to the Catholic Charities Men's Shelter located in downtown Vancouver. Prior to COVID, a group was meeting at the parish to provide trays of hot food which were then delivered to the Men's Shelter and served to the men who stay at the shelter.

Because of COVID restrictions where the volunteers aren't able to meet in person, the Men's Shelter team at CTR began organizing sandwich drop offs. Parishioners as well as families from St. Thomas Aquinas High School generously pitched in by making individually wrapped sandwiches and baked goods at home and dropping them off at the CTR parking lot. The meals are then brought to the hostel and served by their staff.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Men's Shelter Ministry has been able to provide meals for over 120 men on our particular day of the month!

How can I help?

The Men's Shelter Ministry at CTR collects donations one day per month. You can prepare sandwiches or baked goods (following proper food safety precautions) and wrap them individually. Then, bring them to the CTR parking lot on the date and time specified below and a volunteer will be waiting to receive your donation in the trunk of their car. All meals will be delivered to the Men's Shelter on the same day.
